THE 1860 PROJECT NAVIGATION PAGE
The Project now incorporates three methods of accessing the individual pages containing the research and the corresponding snapshots of the model.
THE MAP
On the right is a section of the 1861 OS Map showing the High Street and adjacent areas. The numbers or names of the buildings modelled so far are indicated. By clicking on the name/number you will be taken to the relevant page. Each page in the research section will have a link back to this page.
THE STREET LISTS
The same pages can be accessed by selecting a property or place from one of the drop down lists below and then pressing the "Go" button alongside your selection.
THE CONDUCTED TOUR
This system of navigation takes the visitor on a trip around the properties so far modelled in the order they appeared online. At the bottom of each page (apart from the first and last) are two buttons which lead respectively to the previous page and the next page in the cycle. A link back to the Navigation Page will also be provided.
Begin at Cambridge Barracks.
WALKABOUT
As the model has progressed each page has concluded with snapshots of the respective buildings, but of course the early images were out of context as neighbouring structures and those across the road hadn't then been constructed. Once the model had progressed to the bottom of one side of High Street and started back on the other then new images could show the each building in a more complete setting. Eventually entire scenes emerged and some of them from the south end of town are now being displayed on the High Street Gallery.
