The Council of the Borough of Portsmouth (November 2nd, 1840)

On November 2nd 1840 one third (14) of the Councillors retired and 13 submitted themselves for re-election. 4 Councillors lost their seats. In addition, 3 other Councillors were replaced. There were no elections to the Aldermanic Bench in November 1840. There was an election for Mayor.
