A PETITION TO THE MAYOR FROM THREE FEMALE PRISONERS IN PORTSMOUTH GAOL

May it pleas your Worship.
Wee the poor Women that are Leaft hear in the Gaol being 3 in Number the other haveing got Bail, But may it pleas your Worship wee have tryed al our frends but can git no bail, and tis hard and Cold Lying one the bords thes Long Nights and for want of shifing shall he Eaten up of Vermin without wee have timly Relief and shall Meak ye other prisoners in our Condicion, Ther is Torbay that is but a Criple at best and I fear she will Loos al hir Limbs without your worship will with ye Rest of ye Gentlemen of the Corte take our sad Condicion into your good thoughts to let us have our Liberty To git our bread being hear almost Starved wth Cold and hunger so hope your worship will grant our Request which favor may it pleas your worship will Never be forgotten and hope God will Reward you for ye same and we shall Ever be bound to pray for yr Worshipp's health and prosperity and Remaine your poor humble sarvants
