The Council of the Borough of Portsmouth (November 1st, 1850)


There were 5 bye-elections during 1850. On November 1st 1850 one third (14) of the Councillors retired and submitted themselves for re-election. 4 Councillors lost their seats. One other Councillor was elected at the same time in place of Richard Batchelor. On November 9th 7 Aldermen(*) retired and all were re-elected. There was an election for Mayor.
