The Council of the Borough of Portsmouth (November 1st, 1844)
There was one bye-election, in March. On November 1st 1844 one third (14) of the Councillors retired and submitted themselves for re-election. 3 Councillors lost their seats. On November 9th 5 Aldermen retired. All were re-elected. On November 18th two new Councillors were elected to replace Councillors Bramble and Purchase. There was an election for Mayor.
