The Council of the Borough of Portsmouth (November 1st, 1841)


There were 6 bye-elections before the November elections and 1 afterwards. On November 1st 1841 one third (14) of the Councillors retired and submitted themselves for re-election. 6 Councillors lost their seats. In addition, one other Councillor was replaced. There were elections to the Aldermanic Bench in November 1841 when 6 Aldermen retired (*). All were re-elected. There was an election for Mayor.
